Dr. Fu joined the Biology Department at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University as an Assistant Professor in January 2024.
He received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2017. For postdoctoral research, He first worked with Mary Ann Moran on microbial communities living around phytoplankton from 2017 to 2021, and then with Elizabeth Ottesen on cockroaches gut microbiome at the University of Georgia from 2021 to 2023.
Outside lab, Dr. Fu translates science books from English to Chinese. He has published 10 books so far, bridging linguistic barriers in scientific communication and bring knowledge accessible to a broader audience.
